In this module’s discussions, we examined the various influences on the Declaration of Independence. For this project, we will continue investigating these themes by analyzing the differences between Jefferson’s original draft of the document and the version that was eventually adopted by the Second Continental Congress, after two days of deliberation. After carefully reading the draft version (https://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/transcript-declaration-independence-rough-draft) of the Declaration of Independence and comparing it with the final version (https://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/transcript-declaration-independence-final) write an approximately 750-1000 word (3-4 page) paper that explains the cumulative effect in the changes between the two. Your paper should reference AT LEAST ONE relevant peer-reviewed journal article. Your paper should include all of the following: An introductory paragraph with a thesis statement Body paragraphs that use evidence from the two versions of the Declaration and your outside secondary source, which relate back to the thesis statement A conclusion that summarizes your points, reiterates your thesis argument, and offers some concluding thoughts
